Anne Katrine Gøtzsche Gelting is an associate professor at the Kolding School of Design.
Anne Katrine Gelting is working on a design development project that aims to map and compare the working methods of the various areas that make up the design field. Some areas emphasise the artistic dimensions, while others have a more problem-oriented focus. Through semi-structured, qualitative interviews with teachers from the various design fields (fashion, textile, industrial design, graphic design, illustration, interactive media) at the Kolding School of Design Anne Katrine Gelting examines and documents the specific use of design methods.
Anne Katrine Gelting’s point of departure is that research into design methods has been characterised by a bias with an over-emphasis on industrially and technically oriented design. By mapping design methods she aims to provide a basis for further qualifying the education in design methodology and theory.
In addition, Anne Katrine Gelting hopes to enable the various disciplines to inspire each other. For example, industrial designers might learn about sensory and experimental approaches from fashion and textile designers, while fashion designers might acquire a more user- and problem-oriented approach by learning from industrial designers.
Anne Katrine Gelting teaches at the Kolding School of Design in the interdisciplinary module Design Theory and Method, which includes a number of disciplines including the theory of science, design theory, design method, and written communication.
Anne Katrine Gelting graduated as an industrial designer from the Aarhus School of Architecture in 1994 and earned a Ph.D. degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture in 2005 with the dissertation Elektroniske møbler og digitale amuletter (Electronic furniture and digital amulets).
