Research funds from the Danish Centre for Design Research are awarded three times a year. The application deadlines are 1 February, 1 May and 1 October. The applications are assessed by the Advisory Research Committee, which makes recommendations to the Steering Committee concerning which projects should receive funding, based on research criteria. Grants normally go to research projects at the four schools under the Danish Ministry of Culture that train designers, and which are a part of the Danish Centre for Design Research.
The research funds of the DCDR aim to promote high-level design research projects. This may include, for example, projects that strengthen the understanding of design as a cultural and historical phenomenon or as a concrete practice as well as projects that link research more closely to the private sector and society at large. Funding may also be provided for pilot projects, developing research collaboration, network activities and internationalisation efforts.
More detailed information about the goals and criteria of research funding is available in the rules of procedure and the guidelines for The Advisory Research Committee of the Danish Centre for Design Research (both documents in Danish).
