The Danish Councils for Independent Research (DCIR) funds specific research activities, within all scientific areas, that are based on the researchers' own initiatives and that improve the quality and internationalisation of Danish research. Under DCIR there are five scientific research councils covering the fields of medical research, natural science, the humanities, technology and production and social science.
The Danish Ministry of Culture has established a fund to support cultural research. The fund is used to support research efforts in the research institutions under the Danish Ministry of Culture. Among other purposes, the fund is used to support specific projects in the institutions as well as Ph.D. fellowships at institutions under the Danish Ministry of Culture. The fund is financed by revenue from the Danish pools and lottery funds, and grants are awarded on the basis of recommendations from the Research Committee of the Danish Ministry of Culture. Thus, in recent years, some 10 million kroner have been awarded annually.
Application form available in Danish only. The deadline for applications to the Research Fund is 30 April; the deadline for applications to the Ph.D. Fund is 1 October.
Through this programme, the Danish Enterprise and Construction Authority provides funding for projects that promote the application of user-driven innovation in Denmark. Grants may be awarded to projects that investigate user needs in a way that differs from conventional practices, for example by developing and testing new methods and tools. Grants may also be awarded to efforts that aim to strengthen competencies, education, organisational development, network formation and knowledge dissemination.
The EU's 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7) is the biggest and longest-lasting framework programme in the history of the EU. The framework programme comprises four programmes: Cooperation, People, Ideas and Capacities. As a general rule, a project qualifying should have at least three different partners from three different countries.
