Ph.D. programme

As a Ph.D. student at an educational institution you receive research training, partly through the work you do on your research project, and partly through Ph.D. coursework. The Danish Centre for Design Research offers Ph.D. courses on an ongoing basis. Additionally, as a Ph.D. student you are required to teach or to disseminate your research in some other way. The research project must be completed with a Ph.D. dissertation, which you hand in and defend at a public seminar at the end of the three-year programme.

Employment

Ph.D. fellowships are announced alongside other vacancies. As a Ph.D. student, you will be employed at an educational institution for three years, and you become part of the institution's research environment. Your pay will be determined by the collective agreement between The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and the Danish Ministry of Finance.

As an alternative to the traditional Ph.D. programme, you may choose an industrial Ph.D., where you are employed in a private company. You can read about the industrial Ph.D. programme on the website of the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation.
