Design research can create directly applicable results in collaboration with companies. One of the objectives of the Danish Centre for Design Research is to promote the collaboration between design researchers and businesses. Through its communication efforts and news service, the Danish Centre for Design Research helps ensure that research projects and the production of knowledge benefit society and businesses.
The Danish Centre for Design Research provides contacts between design researchers and companies that wish to develop future products and services with the use of research knowledge and results. For example, through the industrial Ph.D. programme a company can define a specific research project together with an industrial Ph.D. student. The programme also lets the company establish personal networks with universities in Denmark and worldwide, thus strengthening the exchange of knowledge.
Many research projects are carried out in partnerships involving a company and one or more researchers at the schools of design and architecture. In addition, the Danish Centre for Design Research promotes knowledge sharing with the business sector by establishing consortiums, for example in the fashion, textile and furniture industries.
Companies can also receive research-based advice on an ad hoc basis by contacting the research coordinator at the Danish Centre for Design Research. Among other services, we offer advice to companies that wish to apply to the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation for Knowledge or Research Vouchers for design research projects.
